Since 2002, Vancouver has witnessed an artistic and cultural exchange with the 21 year- old Kathara Dance Theatre Collective of the Southern Philippines

Founded by Boots Dumlao, Kathara Canada continues to foster awareness of Philippine indigenous identity through theatre, traditional and contemporary music, dance and martial art.

Kathara Canada members, although born in the Philippines, Canada and even South Africa, they are all very passionate about their Filipino heritage and dream of meeting the tribes that they study first hand.

In the spirit of multiculturism, Kathara invites guest artists to explore the Philippines and its interwoven ancient history with linkages to India, China, Islam, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

As part of Chinatown Arts and Cultural Festival 2007, we invite you to Filipino Day-Celebrating Warrior Culture
at Sun Yat-Sen Park Courtyard.  50 East Pender. 
Admission is FREE  Donations appreciated.

Hosted by Chinese Cultural Centre in partnership with Kathara Dance Theatre Collective Canada as a fundraiser. Center stage, there will be 3 inspiring hours featuring demos by BC’s leading Filipino Martial Arts Schools,
Neo-Ethnic Dance and music by Kathara with collaboration with La Riva Studio, contemporary clown- Diana David, poet- Charlene Sayo, Folk singer Mayo and contemporary dancer Mutya.
Filipino delights market style will entice your taste buds.
Deepen your understanding and love for Philippine identity through art, music, poetry, food, laughter, dance, martial arts and the presence of Filipino-Canadian community.
